A weekly marketplace for farmers
Sell with FarmCo
You grow it and get it to your customers. We bring you the orders and organise the week around you.
Why I built this
I am Jack. I have run a local food business on the ground, working week in week out with regular local suppliers, so I know what a Tuesday night looks like when the orders have not landed properly.
I have also worked in supply chain consultancy and in local food policy. That means I have seen this from both sides, from the yard and from the spreadsheet, and most systems built for farms are built by people who have only ever seen one of them.
FarmCo is not an idea somebody had in an office. Through the original FarmCo model we helped move over £1m of local food, and the parts that did not work got rebuilt. I read every application myself.
How the week works
The same rhythm, every single week.
One cycle, one cutoff, one handover day you choose yourself. Run it once and you will not need to think about it again.
What you will need
Three things, and you are ready to sell.
There is no equipment to buy, no software to learn and no photographer to book. If you can already sell at the gate, you can already sell on FarmCo.
Somewhere to hand over
A farm gate, a barn, a yard, your own shop, or a shared space like a community centre. It only needs to be somewhere your customers can reach easily and safely, at a time that suits you.
Or a delivery round
Local delivery is now live. Set your own day and your own postcode areas, decide what you charge, and keep the delivery fee in full. We take nothing from it.
Your paperwork in order
As a food business you will be expected to have the usual things in place. Food hygiene, insurance, and registration where your products need it. Nothing beyond what you already hold.
What it costs
No listing fees, no monthly fee, no tie in.
You only pay when you sell something. Commission comes off your own base price, and you set that price.
Please price the same as your farm gate. A small platform fee sits on the customer side and covers card processing, hosting and running the marketplace, so there is no need to raise your price to cover commission. Customers notice when a farm costs more online than in person, and it is the farm they blame, not us.
Who we are looking for
Farmers and growers first, then the people who make the rest of the shop.
We want to work with bakers, fishmongers, cheesemakers, winemakers, florists and any primary food producer. We look for high welfare, pasture fed, organic and properly made, and we care far more about how something is produced than which category it lands in.
We take on fewer confectionery products, simply to keep the balance right across the market. If yours is genuinely something different, tell us about it in your application and we will look.
Applications are open
Get your produce online and selling in a few days.
The application takes around three minutes. Most producers are approved, set up and taking orders within their first week.
Jack reads every application personally. Please read the producer terms and conditions before you apply. Not for you, but you know someone?
Recommend a farm
Tell us who they are and we will get in touch personally. Producers already on FarmCo are how most of our best farms found us.
