Collection: New House Farm

We’re a small tenanted farm in Monmouthshire, East Wales, where we breed and rear our own Aberdeen Angus cattle.
The cattle are 100% grass fed, grazing our diverse pastures and making use of the hedgerows and trees around the farm too. We believe that a diverse diet is important for healthy animals, so we try to give our cattle access to as much variety in the fields and hedgerows as possible.
We farm very low input, we are in the early years of establishing our herd in the tenancy here and we're working with what the farm naturally provides rather than relying heavily on bought-in feeds, fertilisers or chemicals. Our cows mainly graze permanent pasture, with access to some herbal leys too.
We’re currently in organic conversion, which is an important step for us as we continue to develop the way we manage the land. We want to produce good food while improving the natural resilience of the farm - in a time the climate is throwing more and more challenges.
We also believe that what our cattle eat matters. A diverse, nutrient-rich diet supports healthy animals and produces beef with a naturally diverse nutritional profile. Research into grass-fed beef has found that grass-based diets can increase levels of beneficial fats such as omega-3 and CLA, as well as some antioxidant compounds, compared with grain-based diets.

Our cattle are bred here on the farm and, when the time comes, we work with a great organic abattoir and butcher who share our values and take care over the meat.

Each month we write a letter with an update on the farm which we share with every customer. We also host a farm walk in the spring, and volunteer hedge / tree planting days in the winter, which we warmly welcome customers to come along to if they would like to.

Our beef is frozen fresh after butchery, rather than sitting on a shelf before being frozen. This helps us retain the freshness and flavour of the meat.
